ISLAMABAD : Veteran politician and central leader of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Javed Hashmi on Thursday said that a joint strategy is the need of the hour to make the country safe from the evil designs of anti-state elements. Taking part in the debate in the National Assembly on assassination of Minister for Minorities Affairs Shahbaz Bhatti, Javed Hashmi said that some elements are active to destabilize the country. He said that Bhatti’s death is not only loss of his family and community but a loss of the country as he was the man who remained busy throughout his life making a positive image of the country in international world ensuring that Christian community is very happy in Pakistan and enjoying all rights here.
He said that Christian community is playing an effective and important role in the country and contributing in various field along with Muslims. He added they also rendered sacrifices at time of countr’s came in to being and they are still loyal to the motherland. He said that Shahbaz Bhatti had truely represented the country by making responsible statements and through his practical steps which is clear example that he wanted to make the country according to the wishes of Quad-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Hashmi said “We can’t make any progress without the participation of Sikhs, Hindus and Christians as they are the integral part of this society. Every Hindu, Sikh and Christian is important for us.”
Participating in the debate MNA Nelson Azeem of PML (N) said that Christian community is playing an important role in the development of the country by providing their services in various fields of life including education and health. He said that best medical care is being provided by missionary hospitals to the country’s people while various missionary schools functioning in different areas are also active to make the future of the country more bright in the field of education.
Appreciating the work of Shahbaz Bhatti, he said that he was an upright man who contributed a lot for the development of Christian community and was strong believer of inter-faith harmony. He said that government should ensure security to such personalities and demanded an inquiry to probe into the matter and presenting the comprehensive report on killing of Bhatti. He said despite such incidents Christian community will continue playing due role in the progress of the country and making a conducive atmosphere in the country for believers of all religions to live their lives according to their believes. “We will remain loyal to our motherland.” Pakistani Christian community while representing the country will continue to use their churches network in the country and abroad to present true image of the country, he added. He said it is high time that all countrymen should sit together and make a joint strategy to curb such acts of terrorism.
MNA Yasmeen Rehman said that some anti-state elements are making plans to destabilize the country through acts of terrorism and urged the country men to stand against these elements. She said Islam is the religion of peace and harmony and against any form of terrorism and said Ulema’s role is also important in this regard who can play their effective role making the society tolerant.
