Recently Hindu Sudhar Sabha Pakistan (HSSP) which is a government registered organization and also has account in MCB Pakistan, Conducted Satsang which (Sanskrit sat = true, sanga = company) is in Hindu philosophy that involves (1) the company of the "highest truth," (2) the company of a guru, or (3) company with an assembly of persons who listen to, talk about, and assimilate the truth. A comrehensive collection of Hindu Pujas and Bhajans in Sanskrit and Hindi at Kashmore district (Urdu: ضلع کشمور) which is a district of Sindh, Pakistan. The capital city is Kashmore which has a population of 312,500. Kashmore is bordered by Ghotki and Shikarpur other district in Sindh. The district is also bordered by Rajanpur and Rahim Yar Khan in Punjab.

         Introduction : Hindu Sudhar Sabha Pakistan (HSSP) is government registered organization and also has account in MCB Pakistan. HSSP start working with anomalous speed and in very short time becomes famous in almost every department of the government. As we don’t have enough funds so now its graph decreasing day by day. It’s very difficult to run an organization without proper funding. We do not compromise in our religion and principles. My grandfather Chaudhry Tara Chand did not bend his knees in case of 22 years old graveyard’s problem. Same is the case with my father Hira Lal. Those people (Mafia) even now want to negotiate, but, we did not accept it and would not. HSSP helping itself to make it a better platform for Hindu minorities and poor Hindu families living in Punjab.  Me as a president of HSSP and also my members use to go to door to door for helping these poor and helpless people.

        HSSP is trying to solve the problems relating to social issues and also providing them education and specially emphasizing religious education. For the sake of it HSSP is trying to print our religious book Eshwar Milap for free distribution in these families. For the publishing of our book we also contacted Muslims and Christian organizations but no satisfactory answer from them. If this will continue then people start converting themselves into Christians. This was already happened in 1983 when mafia occupy our graveyard in Baghbanpura and Munawar Channd leader of that time also involve in it and case was discharged from the court. At that time Hindus also converted to Christians. That leader and mafia members humiliated our forefathers but they did not bent themselves. We have all  proves regarding to this problem.

       When HSSP started preaching and worshiping then Munawar Chand and their leader Bhagat Laal with his friends start interrupting. HSSP start worshiping for three months 2 days in a week. Because of this people use to visit frequently. They did not tolerate it and even start fighting. HSSP give application to Human and Basic Right Department of The Government of Punjab. They establish an inquiry commission and we have won the case. But even then Munawar Chand and Lal Bhagat also start interrupting and by using religious weapon Muslims shut down our Temple. HSSP is not ready to withdraw. Brother Gopinathji, if you faith on Bhagwan then please help us, so that in future our organization became strong and active here.


Here are some of the activities of HSSP -


Ø  Preaching and working for reestablishment of temple in district Narowal.

Ø  In the District Narowal we have arrange for Diwali Celebration after more than 60 years.

Ø  We are also re-constructing our temple in Kundh Kot (interior Sindh) and also helping flood effected Hindu families.

Ø  In the coming year we will visit to Marwari community and will arrange Preaching (Satsung) in Kundh Kot Sindh.

Ø  We are distributing Fertilizer, Food and reconstruction of houses for flood victim Hindu Families in KPK & Sindh.


FUTURE PLAN of HSSP -

Ø  HSSP will establish a publishing company having name Sudhar Publications for publishing religious books, calendars, and literature.

Ø  To establish a trust in Lahore which start giving religious education to Hindu children’s belonging to Punjab.

Sindh (Pakistan) : The Tharis Hindus are honest, hard-working people and are very generous in hospitality. The gatherings between castes is largely restricted to men. The locale for such interactions being the "autak". Each hamlet will have at least one "autak" situated a discrete distance beyond the thorn hedge of the family quarters. Failing an "autak" the nearest shady tree is designated for meetings with outsiders.

Tharparkar (Urdu: تھرپارکر) is a town located in the Tharparkar District , which is one of 22 districts located in the Sindh province in Pakistan. It is the only fertile desert in the world. It is in the fertile Rann of Kutch, as well as in Nara desert.

Where as the hindu make 70% of rural population. about 80% of hindus in tharparkar belongs to scheduled caste.the main community of this districts are meghwar,kohli,nohri,Junejo
,raheman,sameja,samoo,thakar,bhil,oodh,maharaj,lohana. it is the home of ex-chief minister of sindh Dr.Arbab ghulam raheem.

Nagarparkar

Nagarparkar is a tehsil of district Tharparkar that borders Indian Rajsthan and Gujarat from three sides. The area is a historical embodiment of Jainism and Hindu Mythologies of thousands years and have beyond twenty archeological sites of Jain temples and pilgrimages as well as some thousands years old Hindu temples and pilgrimages.

The beauty of Nangarparkar is due to its pink granite Karronjhar hills and rich flora and fauna. Various environmentalists have been demanding the national park status for the Nangarparkar.

Hindus feeling insecure in Sindh & Balochistan, says Mr.Lal a Hindu minister in Pakistan

Islamabad : Abduction for ransom and killing of people belonging to Pakistan’s minority communities, including Hindus, has caused insecurity among them, a minister said.Balochistan Minister for Minorities Affairs Basant Lal Gulshan said Monday there was a sense of insecurity among the minority communities.

The daily Dawn quoted him as saying that the Hindu community was still waiting for the safe return of their religious leader Lakki Chand Garji when another member of their community was killed during a kidnapping attempt in Quetta Sunday.

Rajesh Kumar, a trader, was going to work when armed men in a car intercepted him and tried to kidnap him. When he resisted, he was shot dead.

As many as three Hindu traders have been killed so far during attempted kidnappings in and around Quetta during the past three years.

Gulshan said that people belonging to the minority communities were being compelled to migrate to safer places.

Ram Singh Sodho, who was elected to the Sindh assembly in 2008 on a Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) reserved seat for minorities, fled to India and sent in his resignation to the assembly speaker, Nisar Ahmad Khoro.

Incidents of kidnapping for ransom of Hindus in Pakistan have seen an alarming rise during the last few months, forcing many families to abandon their homes and shift to India or other countries.

Lakki Chand Garji, 82, who is the 'maharaja' of the Kali Mata Mandir in Kalat town in Balochistan province and considered to be one of Pakistan's most revered Hindu spiritual leaders, was kidnapped by a gang of armed men Dec 21 (2010) last year. He is yet to be rescued.

Sarwan Kumar a Hindu trader Kidnapped is rescued in Sindh, Pakistan

Islamabad, Feb 9 A Hindu trader, who had been abducted late last month, was rescued after a fierce gun battle in Pakistan's Sindh province, police said. 

Sarwan Kumar was rescued from the Achhro Thar area of Sanghar district Tuesday, said police official Mohammad Ali Baloch.

He told a press conference that Kumar was recovered after a shoot-out with the kidnappers and four suspects had been arrested.

The official said Kumar had gone to Hyderabad, in Sindh province, for a medical check-up when he was abducted on the way.

On Jan 29, Sarwan Kumar was travelling in a bus that was intercepted by a black car. Four armed occupants of the car took him off the bus and forced him into their car before speeding away.

'He (Kumar) is not feeling well as the kidnapers made him walk for long distances and did not provide him proper food,' Dawn quoted Baloch as saying.

Seth Tulsi Das, a leading trader, announced Rs.500,000 award for Baloch for his efforts in ensuring the safe recovery of Sarwan Kumar.

Unicef says, Sindh faces acute hunger with parts of Balochistan in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD : Pakistan’s Sindh province, hit hard by last year’s floods, is suffering levels of malnutrition almost as critical as Chad and Niger, with hundreds of thousands of children at risk, Unicef said on Wednesday.
A survey conducted by the provincial government and the UN Children’s Fund revealed malnutrition rates of 23.1 per cent in northern Sindh and 21.2 per cent in the south.

Those rates are above the 15 per cent emergency threshold set by the World Health Organisation and are on a par with some of the poorest parts of sub-Saharan Africa.

Northern Sindh also had a 6.1 per cent severe acute malnutrition rate and southern Sindh had 2.9 per cent, both far above the WHO thresholds.

“We are looking at hundreds of thousands of children at risk,” Unicef chief of communication Kristen Elsby told Reuters.

A full report would be released on Friday by the Sindh government, she said, along with the province’s response plan.

Elsby said it was unclear if the August’s floods had caused a spike in malnutrition, but that it had revealed the extent of the problem because babies and mothers were being screened for the first time.

“People were already vulnerable and this kind of kicked the chair out from under them,” she said.

Monsoon floods starting in late July last year devastated Pakistan. More than one-fifth of its territory was inundated and 20 million people affected. Ten million were left homeless and nearly 2,000 people died.

Six months later, many communities in Sindh are still surrounded by floodwaters. In Sindh and Balochistan, some 600,000 people are still living in temporary camps, according to the World Food Programme.

I am writing to voice my deep concern regarding a rally of Muslim extremists in Karachi on January 9, 2010 where all Muslim leaders threatened the common citizens of the country
to face the same fate as the late governor of Punjab, Punjab, Mr. Salama Taseer faced while cricising the blasphemy law.

It is for my shock that there was more than 3000 police officers and no one has moved to take action against the speakers who were openly threatening to kill and announcing a killer as the hero. No case yet has been lodged against the speakers.

For my knowledge the details of the case are; on January 9, 2011 according to police officials over 40,000 people gathered in the streets of Karachi, the capital of Sindh Province for a rally. The rally was organised by Tahaffauz-e-Namoos-e-Risalat which is a conglomerate of religious parties opposed to amendments of the country's blasphemy laws. It is these possible amendments that were behind the assassination of the governor of the province, Salman Taseer by one of his own security guards. The rally, while demonstrating against the amendments also showed support for the assassin, Mumtaz Quadri. "He is a hero and we salute his courage," the speakers declared. It is known that more than 3,000 police officers were present, supposedly to maintain law and order. However, when the speakers announced over their public address system that anyone showing support for the amendments to the blasphemy laws should face the same fate as Salman Taseer no officer or government of ficial moved to silence them. The vast majority of the participants were students from the Madrassas. One of the speakers was a member of the banned organisation, Jamaat-ud-Dawa which is banned by both Pakistan and the United States; however, once again, no move was made to prevent him from publically representing this banned organisation.

Salman Taseer was assassinated by Quadri on January 4 while the other members of his security detail and regular police officers looked on and took no action. Quadri was able to expend 40 rounds from his machine pistol before placing it on the ground before him and surrendering. The speakers announced that if the government was to prosecute Quadri then thousands of 'Quadris' would emerge from their houses to copy the example of what he did to Salman Taseer. The liberal and progressive elements of society would be particularly targeted and would face the same fate.

I am appalled know that in similar fashion to the lack of action by the police and the security detail during and following Salman Taseer's death the government has taken no action whatsoever to curtail the hate speeches and religious intolerance by the fundamentalist. Likewise following the rally of the 9th and despite the fact that the speakers openly called for the death of anyone showing support for the amendments to the blasphemy laws the Provincial government of Sindh has taken no action to file cases of incitement to murder against any of the speakers or organisations involved. In a previous Urgent Appeal by the Asian Human Rights Commission, dated 8 December 2010 we called for the government to prosecute the Muslim leader of Mahabat Khan Mosque, Peshawar who urged his followers and all Muslims to kill Aasia Bibi, offering them a reward of Rs. 500,000.00 for the act. Aasia Bibi is a 45-year-old Christian lady who was sentenced to death by a court for committing blasphe my. Her sentence is under appeal.

I am shoked to know that Mumtaz Quadri has become a national hero and throughout the country posters containing his picture are being distributed proclaiming him as a fighter against liberal and secular ideas and even against the United States who is believed to be behind the move to amend the blasphemy laws.

It was believed that immediately after the assassination of Salman Taseer the government would follow criminal and legal procedure in prosecuting the killer and taking action against the perpetrators of the hate speeches that urged him to commit the crime. However, the government's indifferent attitude regarding religious intolerance has proved it incapable of any sensible action. This is what allowed the rally in Karachi to proceed in turning the country into a narrow minded religious state based on hatred, sectarianism and violence.

I call upon you that where is the law that should protect the ordinary citizen, be they Muslim, Christian or otherwise from the religious intolerance of one group that declares openly that anyone opposing them is marked for death? Article 9 of the Constitution of Pakistan explicitly states:

Security of person -- No person should be deprived of life or liberty save in accordance with law.

So, where and how is the government enforcing this article? According to Pakistani law anyone threatening to kill another person or inciting a third party to kill another person is liable to be tried for attempted murder.

Section 503 of the Pakistan Penal Code states that it is an offense to: Threaten a person with any injury. It further states that it is an offense to: ... cause that person to do any act which he is not legally bound to do as the means of avoiding the execution of such threat,.......

I urge that the government must take advantage of the existence of these laws to rein in any person or party that threatens anyone else with death or harm for whatever reason and bring them before the rule of law. It is vital at this time, when the citizens of the country are living in fear in an extremely volatile environment, that it must show courage. Action must be taken immediately against all of the religious leaders openly advocating murder to any person opposing the ideas and beliefs of the fundamentalists. The Sindh government must instruct the police to file FIRs against the speakers of the religious rally of January 9 who urged their followers and the public in general to kill anyone opposed to the misuse of the blasphemy laws. How is it possible that the killer of an innocent man, the chief executive of the province, is made out to be the hero? What message does this send to society? It is because of the silence of the government that sectarian strife will become rampant in Pakistan, not in the months and years to come, but in the days to follow.

I also urge that the government must ban the distribution and exhibition of any posters portraying the killer, Mumtaz Quadri, as a hero and prosecute him according to the law.

I look forward to your prompt action to provide substantial and comprehensive policy responses on the freedom of expression and prosecution of the religious Muslim leaders who openly justifying the murder of a governor and inciting the religious bigots to kill to who so ever asking for the amendment in blasphemy laws so that laws should not be misused.

In March 2005, we realized to form a plate form to alleviate the poverty, we formed teamsindh blogspot and started working in social services.

On 18th July 2005, a 15 years old girl Arifa Shaikh attempted suicide in Larkana Pakistan, because she was hungry for 2 days (Local newspaper daily kawish 19 july 2005), we immidiately took action and sent appeal for donation on internet, this was the start of our organization, received donations and helped this poor family.

On October 26, 2007, Hanif Sangi founded the SAHARO FOUNDATION to work more effectively in the social sector, same day registered the domain and launched the website. This mission is expanding every single day and there is no doubt in our success


Our mission is to help the poor people of World, there are so many areas in the World, where no water, food or shelter is available. People are simply dying from hunger and disease, they do not have resources and access to those facilities.

KARACHI — Every morning Ruth Pfau stands short and frail before a tall crucifix in Karachi's St Patrick's Cathedral. She bows her head, shuts her eyes, places her right hand on her heart and prays.

It is the beginning of another long day for the 81-year-old nun known locally as Pakistan's Mother Teresa, who has spent half a century caring for some of the country's poorest and most ostracised people.

Pakistan is one of the most dangerous countries in the world, where Washington says Al-Qaeda is based. Its northwest mountains border Afghanistan and are subject to US drone strikes and Pakistani military operations.

Bombings have killed 4,000 people in three years, kidnappings are common, Islamist groups violently opposed to all but their extremist interpretation of Islam control significant territory.

Sister Pfau, who needs a stick to walk, admits some disquiet over security, but says nothing would stop her serving people in distress.

"I find no difficulties even in the northwestern tribal areas, where most people know me because of my work and never create any hurdle when I go there to serve them," she said, adjusting her white scarf on her silver-hair.

It was after the horrors of World War II in her native Germany that she decided to dedicate her life to serving humanity, become a doctor and join the Daughters of the Heart of Mary order, founded during the French Revolution.

Not required to take the veil or live in seclusion, she ended up in Pakistan by chance. En route to work in India, visa complications forced her to break the journey in Karachi, where she visited a lepers' colony.

That was 1960 and the rest is history. The sub-human misery of what she saw persuaded her to stay in Pakistan to help the cause of leprosy.

The living conditions were appalling. The gutters were overflowing and sewer rats feasted on limbs of patients unable to feel the rat biting.

"I felt saddened when I saw people living in caves, crawling like animals. They had compromised with their fate, but it was not their fate, they deserved a much better and happier life," she said.

Sister Pfau's makeshift clinic soon became a two-storey hospital, then the Marie Adelaide Leprosy Centre with branches across Pakistan.

She trained doctors and treated thousands of victims. Her dedication inspired an otherwise hesitant government to establish in 1968 a national programme to bring leprosy under control.

Half a century ago, there were leper colonies across the country but now the programme puts the incidence of the disease at 0.27 people out of 10,000, meeting benchmarks from the World Health Organisation.

At times of natural disaster Sister Pfau was there: Drought in Baluchistan in the southwest in 2000, the 2005 earthquake in Kashmir and this year's floods, the country's worst natural disaster that affected 21 million people.

In Sindh, where more than a million people were affected by the floods, she targets areas mainly populated by Hindus, one of Pakistan's clutch of religious minorities largely neglected by the government and Islamic charities.

She is a frequent visitor to flood-affected areas, largely bone-crunching drives from Karachi, which seem to tire her team more than her.

"She still has amazing stamina. She is an amazing person," said Venu Gopal, coordinator of Sister Pfau's charity.

Born in Leipzig, she was just 17 years old when she headed for the border to cross from East into West Germany, braving Soviet soldiers who were ordered to shoot on sight.

She walked two days and nights before she was spotted by a Russian and a German soldier.

"The German soldier told the Russian he would deposit me at the detention camp and walked with me a few paces ahead. Then, pointing in one direction, he whispered: 'There lies the West'."

Now, in places like the remote village of Begna in flood-hit Sindh's Thatta district, people look upon the elderly German nun as a mother.

"We've lost everything, but Amma (mother) is helping us and we hope to be on our feet soon," said snake-charmer Sanwal Jogi.

"Thanks to her, I managed to replant some oilseeds and mustard, nobody else apart from her and her team comes down here," said farmer Kaser Hero.

She has provided them with shelter, helped them rebuild their houses, gives them seeds and money to help them cultivate the land again.

"It is not just leprosy. We're doing our share in healing partial blindness and tuberculosis and helping people stricken by disasters. Dr Pfau commands respect in the West and gets funds for all this," Gopal said.

"One should not compare one great legend with another, but we rightly call her Mother Teresa as she is serving people with the same empathy, dedication and love as Mother Teresa did in India," said Sindh health minister Saghir Ahmed.

Pakistan : In the name of religion 32 blasphemy cases in Sindh

KARACHI: According to the Sindh police, 32 blasphemy cases have been registered in the province this year, which include five in Karachi, six in the Hyderabad region and 21 in the Sukkur region.

While the Citizens Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) has a record of 11 blasphemy cases registered in Karachi from January to December 7, 2010, the Karachi police say they have not registered any case this year.

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) knows of one incident in Karachi this year – a conviction in a 2006 blasphemy case. HRCP says a total of 24 cases and convictions have been recorded in Pakistan in 2010. Blasphemy cases in Sindh are believed to be less in number than in Punjab. HRCP director and activist IA Rehman told The Express Tribune that this is because, “Anti-Ahmadi sentiment is more prevalent in Punjab, where politics is also mixed with religion. The issue of Ahmadis in Punjab is where the blasphemy laws arose from.”

However, like Punjab, blasphemy cases in Sindh have had violent outcomes. Since 1986, at least three people have been murdered after being charged under the blasphemy laws, according to data compiled by the HRCP and the National Commission for Justice and Peace (NCJP). Jagdesh Kumar was killed in 2008 by colleagues at his workplace in Korangi, while Zafar Ahmad, from the Ahmadi community, was killed in Dadu in 2000. Anees Mallah, who was serving a jail term, was attacked by a mob of 200 people in the Sanghar prison on April 3, 2009. He was reportedly tortured before being shot dead. HRCP’s 2009 annual report quoted his brother as saying that he had been wrongly implicated. In March 2008, Mallah had crashed into a gate erected for a Milad event which angered the organisers, who implicated him in a blasphemy case.
According to the NCJP, three women have been accused in Sindh under the blasphemy laws. In 2009, Tabassum Malkana in Sanghar was accused of desecrating the Quran. In Karachi, Akhtari Begum was booked under Pakistan Penal Code Section 295-B in 2001 for claiming to be a prophet and Bushra Taseer was charged under Section 295-C in 1996 after a tailor alleged that she had given him cloth to stitch, which had a religious inscription on it.

A key issue in such cases is the lack of legal support and security for defendants and their legal counsel. Extra-judicial killings of those accused of blasphemy have taken place since 1990, but the legal community has also faced the ire. In 1997, Lahore High Court judge Arif Iqbal Bhatti, who had acquitted two Christians in a blasphemy case in 1995, was shot dead as he left the court.

Human rights lawyer Zia Awan says defending such cases “is a difficult job”. “We are living in a mad country. Even Islam allows people to defend themselves and so does our law. But the government should arrange for lawyers to defend those accused of blasphemy and provide protection to lawyers in such cases,” he told The Express Tribune. “Prosecutors of anti-terrorism courts recently went on strike for the same reason – to demand that they be provided security to do their job.”

IA Rehman says, “There are also professional complainants who accuse people of having committed blasphemy. Such people are present in Sindh too but in a smaller number.”

In May 2010, two Christian couples residing in Karachi were reportedly accused of blasphemy and went into hiding. According to the Asian Human Rights Commission, seven Hindus from the Bheemo Mal Megwar Para area in Mirpurkhas were reportedly arrested on blasphemy charges in August 2010 after an attack on August 23 by the area’s Muslim residents on a Hindu settlement.

Abductions of Hindu children on the rise in Sindh, Pakistan

Islamabad : Hindu families in remote parts of Pakistan's Sindh province are planning to relocate following an alarming rise in the number of kidnappings of Hindu children.

Only recently, five-year-old Dheeraj Kumar was freed after 35 days in
captivity when police arrested the abductors who had sought Rs.10 million in ransom.

The family was overjoyed to have him back but decided to quit Kandhkot -- where they had lived for generations -- and settle elsewhere.

Dheeraj is not the only one. But he is the first abducted Hindu child to
freed without the payment of ransom, says the daily Express Tribune.

Since the beginning of this year, at least eight children have been
kidnapped. All of them were released only after hefty sums were paid to the criminal gangs.

Peer Chand (4) was let freed Rs.200,000, Pewish Kumar (5) for Rs.330,000, Sagar Kumar (5) for Rs.170,000, Veeraj Kumar (7) for Rs.350,000 and Mahik Kumari (3) for Rs.100,000, according to Hindus in the region.

These are the cases that got reported to the police. It is believed that the number of unreported cases is much higher.

Narrating their ordeal, Dheeraj's uncle Gyan Chand said the "boy was
kidnapped in front of us on the day of Eid.

"He was taken to the nearby village of landlord Ali Memon Khoso, which is generally a forbidden territory for others.

"When around 40 residents followed Dheeraj to Khoso's village with a
resolution not to return without saving him, police intervened and sent them back, promising the child would be returned soon," Chand said.

Later, the police told the stunned family that Khoso would not be released minus ransom and that the parents would have to raise the money.

"It was only after the media and the civil society intervened that there was pressure on the kidnappers to release the child without taking ransom," he said.

District Police Officer Kashmore Syed Asad Raza Sheikh said the boy was
found safe but shaken after a heavy contingent of police confronted the
bandits.

Hindu residents of the region insist that kidnappings have increased due to worsening law and order situation.

And in this uncertain scenario, Hindu families find themselves most
vulnerable.

Gyan Chand recalled that the crime rate in Sindh was much lower when army chief Pervez Musharraf ruled Pakistan.

All the victims of kidnapping belong to one family or have a relation to
business-oriented families, said Suhail Ahmed Abro, provincial manager of the NGO Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child.

"Since the families always agree to the conditions put forward by the
kidnappers, their children have become more vulnerable," he said, adding the criminals target them due to lack of resistance by the victims.

Hindus agree that children of other communities are also kidnapped but the rate is still high among Hindu families.

They also complained that Hindu members of parliament and provincial
legislatures have failed to protect the community, a microspic minority in Pakistan.

"Since they are not representatives of the community but selected members of ruling parties, why would they serve their people?" asked Ramesh Kumar, patron of the Pakistan Hindu Council.

Dheeraj's father Shashpal Das is overjoyed that his son has returned home safely.

Too afraid to name the kidnappers, he vowed to take his son to the dargah in Shikarpur "where his mother is waiting to receive him before their gods".

Other Hindus have had enough of the lawlessness.

Said Gyan Chand: "I will go to Karachi and sell chana-chholay on a
push-cart. I won't stay here now. This is no life."

Pakistan President Mr.Zardari orders probe into discrimination against Hindus in relief camps

Sukkur : Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has ordered a probe into the reports of discrimination in the flood relief camps. Media reports said flood victims were being treated on basis of ethnicity. Hindus and dalits were denied flood relief assistance and some of them were even thrown out of the relief camps.

The Daily Times quoted the president as saying,"Discrimination on ethnic grounds will not be tolerated." The President has also called for an immediate action against the guilty officials, if any.

The president's spokesperson Farhatullah Babar said that the president called for an inquiry following the media reports that a protest rally was held in Hyderabad on Monday to bring such discrimination against the minority community to notice.

Pakistan : Safe recovery of Veerji Kolhi demanded

ISLAMABAD : Number of human rights activists, journalists and civil society members on Saturday held a protest demonstration in front of National Press Club Islamabad, demanding President of Pakistan, the Prime Minister, Chief Justice of Pakistan, Federal Minister for Minority Affairs, and IG Sindh, to help recover Veerji Kohli and save his life.

Veerji Kolhi senior member of HRCP Hyderabad has been missing since Thursday, August 19.

Raees Bachal Khoso for the last couple of weeks, who has the support of Ghulam Qadir Mari to take a police case back, was threatening Kolhi.

Protestors said that if people like Veerji were punished by the influential feudals for siding and helping out vulnerable haris and protecting their dignity then no one would dare to help any one out.

Kolhi attended last program at press club Hyderabad at 4:00 pm on Thursday, he left the press club at 6:35 pm and since then he is missing and his mobile phone is off. There has not been any contact with him since then.

Dr Farzana Bari in a media briefing said that Kohli was a senior Human Rights Activist. He played a leading role in getting justice for Kolhi.

A young girl who was gang-raped in Mokario, a small village near Nagarparker, Sindh. The local police had refused to register the case; Kohli with his partners in solidarity took the issue to provincial assembly and national assembly that culminated in IGP special inquiry board, including three DPO.

Bari said these officials were surprised at the blatant lies and cover-ups by the police of Nagarparker. As a result they suspended SP of Chachro and head moharir of police station Nagarparker. They also terminated Station House Officer and Investigation Officer of police station Nagarparker.

The Parliamentary Committee on Minority Affairs headed by MNA Mahesh Kumar Malani took a serious note of the case and asked all the relevant parties to present their point of view. They appreciated that the senior level police intervention took strong action on the unethical and criminal behavior of police. They also instructed senior officials to get a proper medical checkup of the victim and take a detailed statement of the girl in the presence of a woman police and report back. Kohli was asked to give a presentation on the case to this committee in Islamabad and were impressed by his efforts and conviction. The members were upset with the senior police officers for siding with the influential landlords and skewing the case.

The rapists Khoso and Verio Guraro were arrested. The other two rapists, Habibullah and Ghulam Nabi, two older brothers of Khoso ran away and were pursuing bail. They have got interim bail from the high court.

A few days ago Khoso accompanied by people of Ghulam Qadir Mari, visited Veerji in his Mehergarh office in Hyderabad and threatened dire consequences if he failed to persuade Kasturi Kolhi and her parents for compromise. They continued threatening him till the other day. Bari said we fear that Veerji ha been kidnapped by the men of Khoso and his life is in serious danger.
